Code red: father hits petrol station in last-minute search for Christmas presents

December 24, 2018 by luxwurst

Father hits gas station in last-minute search for Christmas presentsLUXEMBOURG-VILLE — A father who has reportedly never mastered the art of buying presents in a timely manner has again found himself driving to petrol stations in an attempt to get Christmas gifts for his family.

At around 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, the man left his home under the pretense of getting some fresh air. Instead, the 37-year-old made a trip to a commercial center where he was allegedly “shocked” to find the shops already closed.

He was then observed speeding around Luxembourg-ville in an attempt to hit all the petrol stations before they also closed early in observation of the holiday.

After finding an open station in Strassen, the desperate man bought for his wife a sack of discounted croissants, a bottle of Mouton Cadet wine that he would later wrap, and a voucher for 10 car washes.

Disappointed by the selection of children’s items, the man made a risky last-minute drive to the large service station off the A3 near the French border. To his great relief, it was open and full of gift options.

For his 11-year-old daughter, the man bought a coffee mug adorned with the face of Prince Guillaume, a teen magazine, and a jumbo Toblerone bar. For his six-year-old son, the man purchased a tub of sweetened popcorn, a car air freshener in the shape of a robot, and a roadmap of Luxembourg.
