LUXEMBOURG-VILLE — Dozens of onlookers on Avenue de la Liberté were treated to an unexpected delight on Friday morning when a woman wearing high heels was forced to sprint to catch a bus.
The spectacle began near Place de Paris when the 30-something, dressed in a light grey business suit, suddenly dashed toward the Paris / Zitha bus stop.
Clutching a coffee from Fisher and toting a fashionable purse, the woman raised her arms in a desperate yet ultimately unsuccessful attempt to get the driver to wait.
Needless to say, witnesses were thrilled, with one man saying that it offered him a much-needed boost.
“I was feeling a bit down, overworked and depressed to be honest,” he said. “But when I saw that woman wobble down the street at great speed, knowing that the bus doors would probably shut just as she arrived, I suddenly felt better.”
Another witness recounted her joy at seeing the lid on the woman’s cup fly off, hot coffee splashing on her white blouse.
“Once I saw that, I knew I’d be able to get through the day with a smile my face,” the witness said. “All I’d need to do is think of the look on her face, and I’d feel cheerful in a second.”
