Knock A Shining Dog

Schueberfouer prize scrapped only moments after getting home

September 10, 2018

Schueberfouer prize stuffed animal LUXEMBOURG-VILLE — A large soft toy that spent six months travelling around fairs in the Greater Region in hopes of getting won by a loving child has been discarded just moments after arriving in its new home, according to sources.

The plush dog, named Dog-Dog by six-year-old Liva Jorgensen after her parents spent nearly fifty euros to win it, was proudly carried home atop the girl’s shoulders on Sunday evening during a victory march from the Schueberfouer to the family’s house in Merl.

When the family of three entered the home, Liva’s mother Sophia surveyed the available space in the girl’s bedroom before determining that Dog-Dog would need to live downstairs in the cellar.

“Dog-Dog will be much happier there,” the mother explained. “He’ll have plenty of space, and think of how much fun he’ll have playing with all those old toys of yours.”

Liva reluctantly agreed before getting distracted by a stack of Pokémon cards. She then entirely forgot about Dog-Dog.

Experts predict that Dog-Dog will spend the next several months acquiring dust and mold in the cellar until he is discovered next spring by the father, Lars, who will say, “Where the hell did this piece of junk come from?”

Lars will then load Dog-Dog into the back of his car with several bags of glass bottles, remnants of an old door, and a broken vacuum cleaner. Dog-Dog will then be taken to the recycling center where he will sit for eight hours on a shelf of free stuff before being thrown in a rubbish bin and eventually buried in a landfill with other non-recyclable items.
