In adherence to the laws of nature, meteorology, and fashion, the entirety of a Luxembourg woman’s set of colorful apparel has begun its annual journey south.
The departure occurred on Tuesday morning as post-Schueberfouer chilly drizzle and gray skies signaled the definite end of summer.
“Au revoir pink, goodbye turquoise, and äddi canary yellow,” whispered Leila Boutros as the items assembled in the sky and flew away. “Ciao floral print dress, adios denim skirt, and ma’a salama beige trousers.”
Air traffic control in Luxembourg confirmed that the flock of clothing had left local airspace at 9:03 a.m. and was headed south towards Dijon, France.
“The clothes are flying in a nearly perfect V formation, which is not surprising given the fact that they appear to be made from high-quality fabric and share the same designer labels,” said a French air traffic controller who also hosts a fashion podcast.
“What a fun and colorful collection,” he continued. “Everything looks like it has come from an Elle magazine guide about the must-have items for a chic summer wardrobe.”
“And you can see they’ve been taken care of, washed on the delicate setting in cold water,” he added. “Oops, 18R runway cleared for takeoff.”
Experts say Boutros’s wardrobe will likely continue flying through France and then the Iberian peninsula, making a short stop in Marbella before continuing on.
“Marbella, with its fine weather that lasts until mid-October, is a traditional resting point for any collection of nice, bright clothes such as these,” said Sophia Kober, who studies the migratory patterns of summer clothing. “They’ll likely be worn by a svelte Dutch tourist named Kim for a week or two before they continue their journey south.”
