Five years after spending a small fortune on them, a Luxembourg couple have finally found a use for the matching luxury winter coats they purchased.
The couple have only occasionally worn the coats, which are branded as being designed for Arctic explorers, each cost more than €1200 euros, and are made with certified “real goose feathers” because apparently high-tech synthetic insulation is for peasants and middle-class people.
When Lev and Alla Token did wear the items, it was mostly to show off and appear as the type of people who might travel to northern Sweden mid-winter to sleep in ice shelters and hunt reindeer, even if the last thing they did that was remotely adventurous was driving to a shabby area of Trier to look for a new kitchen table.
However, now that temperatures in Luxembourg have dropped below zero for many days, creating very chilly morning conditions, the couple have been able to use the coats for their intended purpose.
“It certainly kept me warm while I walked from my front door to my Range Rover in the driveway, especially during those treacherous ninety seconds while the engine warmed up,” said Alla.
“I wore it while trekking from my office to the Italian bistro across the street,” said husband Lev. “Without it, I might not have survived.”
The couple say that now that they are bona fide adventures, they are considering investing in a new luxury off-road 4×4 safari vehicle which will mostly be used to explore Luxembourg City.
