MERL — A newcomer to Luxembourg who is known at home for his contrarian beliefs and refusal to conform to societal expectations has announced that he is looking for an unreliable cleaning lady.
“Hello, I know this question has been asked before, but I would like a recommendation for a cleaning lady,” he posted last week in several Facebook groups. “I would prefer someone I cannot trust, unprofessional and indiscreet, to come between zero and three times per week, depending on her mood and how badly she needs money.”
“Someone who when she does show up, leaves my apartment in worse shape than when she arrived,” he continued. “Someone who won’t hesitate to share on social media photos of my dirty underwear or embarrassing personal stuff she finds while rummaging through my bedroom dresser.”
The newcomer said that if possible, he would like a cleaning lady who is new to Luxembourg, has no professional references, and concocts a weird story about why she cannot show her ID, provide basic contact information such as her phone number, or even give her family name.
“If she’s got sticky fingers and some of my belongings disappear, all the better,” he added. “I am not a sheep. I will not live my life in accordance with bourgeois expectations of domestic help.”
