In a stunning development, two men who have chatted several times a week for nearly a decade have finally asked to know each other’s first name.
Boyan Nikolav and Christophe Duchard have been friendly with each other since their children, now aged 12, started précoce nine years ago.
“Max’s dad and I always find time for a quick talk, either in the morning or afternoon,” Nikolav said. “Sometimes I feel closer to him than my own spouse.”
“It was time to bring the relationship to the next level,” he added.
“To me, Yoana’s father is more than just a parent from the school,” Duchard said. “He has become my brother.”
“So that’s why I wanted to finally learn what his actual brother calls him,” he added.
Over the past nine years, the two men have engaged in approximately 1,170 conversations which total around 3,000 minutes of talking without knowing the most basic piece of information about the other.
When it came time to perform the intimate deed, the decision came easily and felt mutual, the two fathers say.
“One day I said, ‘you know what man, it’s funny that after all these years, I don’t even know…’” Nikolav said.
“And then I said, ‘your name,’” Duchard added.
The men gave their names, shook hands, and felt relieved. Unfortunately, they both immediately forgot and will have to ask again in a few months when the awkwardness has dissipated.
