A Luxembourg man has admitted to feeling underappreciated by his wife for all he has done for her on International Women’s Day.
Eduardo Caudillo says that in recognition of his wife Sandra and women everywhere, he took over many of the morning tasks she normally does.
These included waking up early to empty the dishwasher and feed the cats, preparing breakfast and school snacks for their two children, reviewing multiplication tables with their son Oscar, filling out a permission form for their daughter Isabel, and making sure both kids were dressed for the chilly weather.
“Sandra and I both work, and it’s true that she does that stuff every morning, and it may not always be fun, but she’s good at multitasking, you know? As a man, I also have my share of responsibilities. Like grilling.”
“And I’m not always in the mood to play video games with the kids, but I do it because it’s important to them.”
Eduardo says that when he arrived at work, he was surprised to find that Sandra had emailed him a list of other tasks to complete during the morning.
“Contact the pediatrician to postpone the afternoon appointment, confirm and pay a deposit for Oscar’s birthday party in two weeks and create and print invitations for his classmates, and then use my precious lunch hour to pick up Isabel’s gymnastics outfit at the dry-cleaner’s – and then buy underwear for myself.”
“How am I supposed to know what size I wear? That’s usually her job.”
Eduardo says that in her email, Sandra didn’t even thank him. He hopes that by the time she gets home from work, she will recognize that he also deserves some recognition on International Women’s Day.
“She could, you know, get me a little something – sure, flowers, why not – or make me a special dinner. Something that shows that this is my day, too.”
