A colleague and amateur magician who performs under the names the Dazzling Deceiver and the Phenomenal Faker has announced that for his next trick, he’s going to take a single public holiday in the middle of the week and turn it into five days off in a row.
“Ladies and gentlemen, some of you say that having a Wednesday off, such as tomorrow, is a waste, and that we might as well work because there’s nothing you can do with a single free day,” he said on Tuesday afternoon. “But I’m going to show you how, with a simple wave of my wand, I can take that single day and turn it into five.”
With the entire office now watching, the man put on a black cape and stood near the exit.
“Hocus pocus, fakus sickness,” he said excitedly, waving a pen above his head. “Abracadabra, influenza, mysterious stomach virus, kazam!”
As he disappeared through the door in a burst of smoke, several people gasped. However, when the office magician didn’t reappear after a few minutes to bring the trick to a conclusion, everyone went back to work and eventually forgot about the impromptu show.
Sources indicate that on Thursday, the man will send a brief email to HR with his boss in copy saying, “Not feeling well. I’ll be back on Monday. P.S. Tada!”
