FRUGALANGE — A member of Luxembourg’s Pirate Party who is running for deputy in the upcoming elections has admitted to giving “serious thought” to ironing his t-shirt before appearing at an upcoming event.
Lucian Welter says that while he’s been making efforts to wear his nicest t-shirts and jeans when he’s on the campaign trail, he feels that an upcoming Q&A session at a law firm might require a little more effort.
“Ironing my t-shirt could be a subtle yet effective way of saying I’m here, I’m serious, and I want your vote,” he said. “Proof that I’m willing to play the part.”
“But on the other hand, wearing an ironed t-shirt would make me look like all those other stiff politicians who are overly concerned with their appearances and not worried enough about their ideas,” he continued. “My supporters might accuse me of selling my soul.”
Sources indicate that after he’d gone so far as to borrow an iron from a friend and watch a video tutorial about removing wrinkles, the 31-year-old decided to instead just wear a blue and green flannel, which he felt would nicely compliment his hiking boots.
