After forgetting to bring his reusable shopping bag for the 17th time this month, a Luxembourg man has decided to permanently attach one to his body.
Betzdorf resident Arnie Kromwell says he tried everything to remind himself to bring an eco-sac from home when he went shopping, but nothing worked.
“I put a note on the inside of my apartment door that said ‘Hey, you, Arnie, grab an eco-sac before you go shopping,’ but I always forgot to look at the note,” he said.
“So then, on my arm I tattooed the words ‘Hey, you, Arnie, look at the note on your door before you go shopping.’ Problem is, I never remembered to look at my arm.”
“That’s when I decided to sew an eco-sac to my left hand,” he added. “Sometimes I forget it’s there, and I still buy a new one, but I remember about 50 percent of the time, which means I save money because now I only buy half as many.”
Officials estimate that more than €135 million is spent every year on unnecessary eco-sac purchases, and that somewhere in the center of the country there is probably a colossal mountain made from those that were only used once.
