An expat has once again turned to his trusted Facebook group for advice, this time for tips on how to best perform abdominal thrusts on himself to dislodge food on which he was choking.
“Hi dear friends,” he posted on Thursday at 12:43 p.m. “You have always been so helpful, and once again I need your feedbacks [sic].”
The expat went on to explain that as he was eating a ham sandwich 45 seconds prior, a partially chewed morsel became lodged in his throat.
“Please advice [sic] me on the best way to perform the Heimlich maneuver on myself,” he continued. “Hurry.”
“Huah, ach, huah, ach,” he added.
Dozens of group members chimed in, with some urging him to use a chair to perform the maneuver on himself, while others suggested he purchase an anti-choking device on Amazon.
The mention of Amazon then prompted a discussion about ordering from Amazon UK, with the consensus being that despite Amazon’s claims, an additional import duty is nearly always applied.
One member said she would be happy to perform abdominal thrusts on the man, but she would only be available later that afternoon after picking up her kids at school. However, she tagged a friend with the message, “can u [sic] help?”
The friend liked the post but did not respond.
The following day, the choker posted an update in the expat Facebook group.
“Thank you for your great advices [sic] yesterday and many thanks to the person who sent me a DM with the number for urgencies. In the end, my neighbor heard me and made the maneuver on me.”
“I love this community,” he added.
