People who’ve never become obsessed with the “Game of Thrones” series, either because they have real-world hobbies or because they know dragons aren’t real, are expressing delight after hearing that Sunday’s final episode left fans feeling betrayed and miserable.
“I don’t care about the Stark family and their war with the direwolves,” said one Luxembourg office worker and ardent non-fan. “But the final episode sounds amazing because it left all my friends who think about nothing but ‘Game of Thrones’ totally depressed.”
“They usually talk about Daenerys Lannister or whatever in hushed, reverential voices, and now they’re all calling her a slag and they’re demanding the last eight years of their lives back,” she said.
“Fans wouldn’t shut up about how realistic and dark ‘Game of Thrones’ is, and how it’s all about subverting expectations,” said a Dudelange security guard who casually watched the first two seasons until he remembered that it’s more fun to socialize with sentient beings. “How’s that final episode for subverting expectations? I’ll bet you’re feeling pretty dark now.”
“Now will you please stop naming your daughters Arya,” said a Luxembourg maternity unit nurse. “And yes, if you named your son Hodor, it’s too late to change your mind, and let that be a lesson to you.”
