LUXEMBOURG-VILLE — Emphasizing that her daughter specifically said she’d hang out at the edge of the Kinnekswiss park to be picked up following a climate march on Friday, a Luxembourg mother has been forced to circle the gathering for a fifth time.
“Nadia promised she’d be there at 2:45 p.m.,” the mother said, glancing at both her watch and iPhone. “Boulevard Prince Henri and Avenue de la Porte-Neuve, that’s what we agreed on. We’ll never make it to Howald by three o’clock for her tennis lesson. And then I have to drive all the way to Mamer to pick up the new curtains.”
The mother nervously tapped the steering wheel of her Audi Q7 while scanning the hundreds of young people with signs and banners decrying the overuse of carbon-based fuels.
“And she’s not answering her phone, either and — oh shit,” the mother said. “Now I’m stuck in the wrong land I have to cross the Red Bridge. Again.”
“This is intolerable,” she added, turning up the air conditioning to combat her rising frustration.
