Thousands of people in Luxembourg looked out the window this morning, saw the clear skies, and decided it was ideal weather to go outside and spread the coronavirus a little.
“It would be a shame to spend the beautiful day inside, keeping our germs to ourselves,” said father Alarvo Encants, a resident of Luxembourg City. “I’ll take the kids to the Kinnekswiss so they can cough all over an elderly woman only venturing outside to walk her dog.”
“Lovely, lovely day,” said Remich mother Trish Thompson, packing a picnic for her family to enjoy along the river. “With any luck, we’ll find other families to hang out with.”
“We can turn it into a COVID-19 party, just like parents to organise for the chicken pox,” she continued. “If an immunocompromised person falls ill as a result of our afternoon fun, so be it.”
“It’s what military leaders call ‘collateral damage,’” she added. “The world is a savage place.”
