Gentlemen, for too many months our necks have been naked. For too long we have walked these cruel streets without our most beloved piece of fabric measuring 90 centimeters by 90 centimeters. We have been lonely, ill-at-ease, and vulnerable to the harsh elements of this world.
In May, they told us we had to give up our favorite accessory. Our friends made fun of us for being too fashionable. Our colleagues mocked us when we turned our backs. Our spouses hissed and ordered us to take them off, said it’s not right, it’s too warm, there’s no need to wear one at the beach.
But, my fellow lovers of expertly dyed silk with hand-rolled edges, the season has changed, and it belongs to us. Our lovelies beckon us, asking us to remove them from the drawers and wardrobe shelves where they have lain dormant, waiting for us.
Did you awaken this morning to a chill in the air? Did you wonder if it was time to put on a warmer jacket before leaving your home? Did you say, goodness, my throat is exposed and I feel a tickle?
If so, sir, you know deep inside that the time is nigh. You feel it in your bones, that it’s our moment to shine. The naysayers will always be there, and they’ll always say no, it’s too early. Well, they are wrong. We are covering our necks and taking to the streets: a multitude of men, not afraid of looking great and feeling cozy.
