A Luxembourg freelancer who works from home has lost eight hours of productivity trying to scan his own digital CovidCheck certificate, it has been revealed.
“I downloaded the CovidCheck application as well as a digital certificate showing I’ve been vaccinated twice and that I’ve received a booster shot,” said Geronimo Torres. “Before allowing myself to enter my home office today, I asked myself to scan my 2G+ QR code, as legally required.”
Torres says completing the task proved tricky, since the scanning app and the QR code are both on his phone.
“Even though I have great speed and dexterity from having been a former regional ping pong champion, I cannot flip my phone fast enough,” he added. “Perhaps they will grant me an exemption. My wrist hurts.”
A government spokesperson says that while they sympathize with freelancers who often have excessive administrative hurdles to jump over, independent workers must comply with the law.
“In order to learn how to break the laws of physics, Mr. Torres should consider re-watching ‘The Matrix,’ but just the first one because the sequels aren’t that good,” the spokesperson said. “He might also take Kung Fu lessons, as it’s been said that some dedicated practitioners have been able to master the ‘show-and-scan’ technique.”
