OBERPALLEN — A resourceful man from the west of the country saved time and energy on Friday by getting his summer and winter tires put on during the same visit to a garage.
Luc Verhaegan, a 38-year-old restaurant manager, says that it occurred to him last week that he had forgotten to change his winter tires.
“I thought about doing it in May, and again in July, but then I was getting busy taking care of my kids and planning for the summer vacation,” he said. “Then we got back and school started again, and I got busy with work, and then I was like, oops, I’d better do it before it gets too late.”
After Verhaegan got his Peugeot fitted with summer tires at a local garage, the mechanic reminded him that he should have his winter tires put on soon before temperatures drop too low.
“I was like, good point,” Verhaegan said. “So I thought, why don’t I go ahead and have the winter tires put on now? That way, I’ll save a trip back.”
Luckily for Verhaegan, the mechanic only charged him for one change.
“I could not, with a good conscience, charge him a whole 112 euros for something he could have done by himself by doing nothing, at home, for free,” the mechanic explained.
