Knock A Shining Dog

Secret Santa surprises everyone in office with new cold virus

Secret Santa surprises everyone in office with new cold virus

Honoring the Christmas tradition of giving without seeking recognition, an anonymous employee at an insurance company in Luxembourg-ville spent the entire week quietly surprising everyone with a brand new cold.

The secret gift-giving began on Monday, when the employee got into the holiday spirit by sneaking the virus to several colleagues who ate cookies on which the Secret Santa had coughed. The next morning, they were astonished to discover they had sore throats.

On Tuesday, the employee continued his generous undertaking, this time giving the cold to six more people after he dabbed at his runny nose during a meeting, and then spread the germs onto a sheet of paper and a pen that were being passed around. Several attendees were delighted the following day by waking up with giant headaches.

Despite being overworked and feeling unwell, on Wednesday the Secret Santa found time to give the virus to several more office mates, this time sending droplets of virus-laden spittle into their faces with a powerful sneeze while they all chatted near the coffee machine.

By the end of the week, the spirit of giving had infected the entire office, and nearly all 83 employees reported low-grade fevers, chills, and body aches. Even those who had managed to avoid contact with the virus got involved, calling in sick, not wanting to miss out on the fun.
